DEBI COLEMAN
Managing Partner, SmartForest Ventures
Debi Coleman, Managing Partner of SmartForest Ventures , is one of the most recognized female executives in technology management. Debi stepped down as Chairman of the Board of Merix Corp. (NASDAQ: MERX) in September 2001, having served as Chair since October 1999, and serving as both CEO/Chair since its spin-out from Tektronix, Inc. in March 1994 (IPO: May, 1994). Prior to that she was Vice President Materials/Operations for Tektronix. She is perhaps best known for her career achievements with Apple Computer, Inc. where she held the positions of Vice President of Operations, Chief Financial Officer, and Vice President Information Systems and Technology.
Coleman serves as an advisor to three venture funds: PacRim Partners (CA); Utah Ventures; and Alexander Hutton Ventures (Seattle). She has been an active angel investor since 1995 and is a founding member of the Portland Angel Network..
Coleman graduated from Brown University with a BA in English Literature in 1974 and received her MBA from Stanford University in 1978. She also received an honorary Ph.D in Engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute in 1987. Coleman was named a Henry Crown Fellow of the Aspen Institute in 1997.
Coleman devotes time and energy to several organizations including the Committee of 200 and International Women’s Forum. She currently serves on the boards of Applied Materials Inc.; Synopsys, Inc.; Finatus; and Teseda Corp.
DAVID CHEN

David brings more than 20 years of operating experience in the software, Internet commerce, and wireless markets. He began his career as one of the early team members at Solectron, a $16 billion market leader in electronics manufacturing. Dave was also founder and managing partner of The Ascent Group: a strategy consult serving firms like Intel, Microsoft, Sun, Bell Atlantic, Fujitsu and Marimba. He is a co-founder at GeoTrust, and during his tenure as an OVP partner; he served on the board of @mobile prior to its acquisition by software.com.

Scott is a partner in the Pacific Northwest Office where he focuses his practice in the intellectual property, emerging growth and corporate law areas, and sports and entertainment law areas. Scott works with clients involved in complex technology transfers, licensing, electronic commerce and mergers and acquisitions. Prior to joining White & Lee, Scott was a member of the legal departments at Intel Corporation and Sequent Computer Systems where he played a key role in numerous multi-million dollar transactions with companies such as IBM, Boeing, Netscape and Computer Associates. He holds a JD from Willamette University, College of Law and an MBA from Willamette University, Atkinson Graduate School of Management.
DENNIS FERNANDEZ

Mr. Fernandez, a partner at Fernandez & Associates, is an experienced registered U.S. patent attorney, with strong electrical engineering technical background. In addition to having done significant chip design work in the electronic industry, Mr. Fernandez has served as high technology and intellectual property counsel to several semiconductor, computer, network, communications, and software companies. Prior to his time at Fernandez & Associates, Mr. Fernandez has practiced at the law firms of Fenwick & West and Nutter McClennen & Fish. Mr. Fernandez received his J.D. from Suffolk University and holds an Electrical Engineering degree from Northwestern University.

KEVIN HOAR
Co-Founder and Vice President of Operations
Mr. Hoar co-founded the company in Feb. 2000 where he established the business requirements for systems development and co-developed the company's patent-pending algorithmic method for in-stock probability. Prior to that he was the Inventory Distribution Manager for Dockers Europe BV during the 5-year brand launch of Dockers Casual Wear in Europe. In those five years he oversaw 1000% growth ($100MM) of deliveries to 4,000 retail outlets in 35 countries across Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. Mr. Hoar also held Retail Systems Support and Supply-Chain Planning positions with Columbia Sportswear and Nike.
Mr. Hoar holds a BA in Government & International Relations from The University of Notre Dame, South Bend Indiana and received an MIM (International MBA) from the American Graduate School of International Management (Thunderbird) in Phoenix, Arizona.

Abbie is a founding principal of Armstrong Kendall, Inc., and is an expert in technology marketing and communications strategies. From 1994 to 1998, she was the director of corporate marketing at OrCAD, the world's leading supplier of Windows-based EDA software and services. At OrCAD, she and her team were responsible for worldwide advertising, public and investor relations, direct and online marketing, collateral, customer communications, and the company’s web site.
Abbie and her team helped grow OrCAD from $8 million to $50 million in revenues, and gained OrCAD the number one brand position in the industry, a position the company has held for more than five years. She was an essential member of OrCAD’s IPO team and directed its investor relations program. While at OrCAD, Abbie served for two years as the publicity chair on the Executive Committee of the Design Automation Conference, the industry’s leading technology event.
Previously, Abbie was the corporate communications manager at Mentor Graphics, where she managed co-op marketing programs with Sun Microsystems, DEC, IBM, and Hewlett-Packard, and marcom strategy and programs for multiple divisions. While at Mentor, Abbie was elected to the board of directors of the worldwide EDA Consortium.
Before Mentor Graphics, Abbie was the marketing manager for nCUBE Supercomputers, taking the company from start-up through fast growth to its acquisition by Oracle Corporation’s Larry Ellison. She was previously a marcom project manager at database-maker Unify Corporation, and began her career in the Corporate Quality and Reliability Division of the Intel Systems Group.

Joseph Kouri is a founding partner of Bononi & Kouri LLP. The firm is engaged in the practice of general business litigation with special emphasis in the areas of employment and trade secret law. In his practice, Joe represents and counsels both individuals and corporations in connection with a wide variety of business, employment and trade secret issues, including employment discrimination, ERISA, wrongful discharge, breach of contract, fraud, breach of fiduciary duty, actions under the Uniform Commercial Code and Uniform Trade Secrets Act, unfair business practices, unfair competition, and RICO. Joe is a member of the San Francisco, Santa Clara and Los Angeles County Bar Associations, and sits on a number of Bar committees related to employment and trade secret litigation. He has written numerous papers concerning employment and trade secret issues both from the company and the employee's perspective, and has spoken on these topics at many public and private seminars. Joe is a native of New York City. He graduated from University of Detroit in 1973, earning a BA in English, cum laude , and becoming a member of the Jesuit Honor Society. After a career in teaching, Joe received his law degree from the Cornell Law School in 1987, and has been practicing in California ever since. When he has the time, Joe enjoys playing golf and tennis, and traveling abroad with his wife Cornelia.
KEITH LARSON

Keith Larson manages Intel's minority equity investments in and identifies strategic acquisition opportunities of networking and communications building block-related companies. In 1996, Intel Corporation recruited Keith to its venture investing and acquisition group, now known as Intel Capital. In addition to several acquisitions, he and his team have invested in many successful companies including Berkeley networks (acquired by Fore Systems), Globespan (GSPN), Research in Motion (RIMM), Rocketchips (acquired by Xilinx), and XLNT Designs (acquired by Intel). Prior to joining Intel, Keith operated a strategy and financial advisory firm and was founding member of a consumer software company (PrintPaks, later sold to Mattel). In 1986, Keith co-founded a $51 million venture capital fund (InterVen II, L.P.) where he was a general partner for over 9 years. Keith's investments while at InterVen II included Protocol Systems, Inc. (PCOL), Northwest Pipe and Casing (NWPX), and Sports Incorporated (acquired by Adidas America). As a part of Intel Capital's role in helping grow Intel's business, Keith is actively engaged in the development of Intel's networking and communications strategies. He and Intel Capital were the focus of a Harvard Business School Case Study published in 2000 examining how Intel obtains strategic value from its investments. He is a CPA and has been an Adjunct Professor at the Oregon Graduate Institute and Portland State University where he has taught classes in financing emerging growth companies and technology commercialization. He regularly speaks at conferences and seminars such as Next Generations Networks and Networld + Interop.

Steve Morris is a 20-year veteran of the test business with product development and rollout experience at Hewlett Packard, Integrated Measurement Systems, Cadence, Mentor Graphics and Credence Systems Corporation. Stuart Nam, Esq. is an expert in international corporate alliance. As a business professor and management consultant, Stuart counsels emerging growth companies on their strategies for international strategic alliances, foreign market entry, cross-border investments and marketing. Although his primary focus has been with young high-tech companies, he has also worked with large organizations, including global media concerns, Asian conglomerates and government agencies.
Stuart most recently served as a visiting professor at KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology), one of Asia's most prestigious universities, where he pioneered the school's MBA course on law and business: "Going Global: Managing Foreign Market Penetration and Corporate Partnering." Prior to founding Principia Group, Stuart practiced international law as law clerk for the United Nation's Office of Legal Affairs in New York and the World Trade Organization in Geneva. He also was an award-winning business writer and columnist for nearly ten years; he has written for the Knight-Ridder Financial News, Investors' Business Daily and The Far Eastern Economic Review from Washington, D.C., Tokyo, Hong Kong, and Seoul. He also wrote in his native language for Korea's leading weekly newsmagazine, Sisa Journal, as the business editor and Silicon Valley columnist. He also has published a best-selling business book in Korea, Venture@SiliconValley, which was chosen by the Korean government as "The Best IT Book of 2000."
Stuart received his J.D. from the University of California's Hastings College of the Law, an M.S. in journalism from Northwestern University, and a B.A. in philosophy from Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul, where he graduated with top academic honors.

Drummond started the company with a profound interest in improving the way people share information and has invested over a decade of his life to this endeavor. Drummond has served on several of the W3C Working Groups for the P3P privacy protocol, is a founder and director of the XNS Public Trust Organization (XNSORG), and currently a member of the board of the International Security, Trust and Privacy Alliance (ISTPA). Mr. Schapelhouman has over 20 years of experience in various senior financial roles. Most recently he was the CFO at Aris, a $60 million, 400 employee, publicly traded professional services firm. Prior to Aris, he founded CFO Plus, where he provided services as both a project-based and interim CFO for early stage technology companies. In this capacity, he served as CFO for a variety of software companies including Endura, nth Degree Software, Invisic, Tidemark, and Punch Networks. He also provided interim CFO and financial consulting services to clients in the service, medical and eCommerce industries. Prior to CFO Plus, Mr. Schapelhouman was Vice President of Finance at Sierra On-Line, a $200 million 1,000 employee publicly traded software company. He has been involved in a variety of mergers over the last ten years. Mr. Schapelhouman earned his B.S. degree from San Jose State University and his MBA in Finance from Golden Gate University. He received his CPA certificate in California after working at Deloitte Touche.
PATRICK SCHULTHEIS

Patrick J. Schultheis is a corporate and securities attorney at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati. Patrick's practice focuses on the corporate representation of emerging growth companies, underwriters and investors in the Pacific Northwest. Patrick joined WSGR in 1989, and has practiced at the firm since that time. In December 1998, Patrick and three other attorneys opened the firm's first branch office, in Kirkland, Washington. Patrick is the managing partner of WSGR's Kirkland office.
Patrick has extensive transactional experience in public offerings, mergers and acquisitions and private financings. With 20 years of organizational consulting experience in over 250 high technology companies, Dick has earned an excellent reputation with CEOs and the venture capital community. Dick's professional expertise lies in organization and executive development, particularly founder transitions, top-management team building, and CEO coaching. As a professional advisor or special limited partner to six venture capital firms, Dick has provided both pre-deal due diligence and post-funding consultation to startup teams. His consultation has included executive coaching and team building for over 100 pre-IPO companies. More than an advisor, Dick is an activist -- a catalyst for change. For this reason, he is known by the venture capital community as the person to call when tough people issues inhibit startup success. Dick also provides coaching and consultation to senior executives at larger corporations. In this capacity, he helps the executives diagnose organization and interpersonal issues and define change and development plans. His work often involves executive team building as well as planning for broader organizational change such as restructuring and acquisition integration. Dick maintains professional affiliations with the American Psychology Association and the Bay Area Organizational Development Network. John Thomas has a general corporate practice with an emphasis on securities, financing and acquisition transactions. John has extensive experience in private and public financings, representing both issuers and underwriters, and handling acquisitions and mergers. A significant portion of John’s practice consists of representing emerging businesses, particularly technology-related companies. He also regularly advises publicly held companies in connection with executive compensation matters and their periodic reporting to the Securities and Exchange Commission and shareholders. Robert is an experienced manager, private equity investor and consultant with wide ranging knowledge and interests. He entered the venture capital industry as a senior associate with Canaan Partners and subsequently was a General Partner at Comdisco Ventures.
Prior to co-founding Rocket Ventures, Robert was an independent consultant and individual investor, involved with start-ups in both roles. Robert also is a frequent speaker at entrepreneurial forums such as the San Jose based Software Development Forum and the Sun JavaOne Conference. He holds a BSEE from Rice University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.

Mr. White represents emerging growth companies and investment funds on all matters relating to the formation, financing, growth and liquidity of technology based enterprises. Mr. White’s practice principally covers corporate, technology, financing and corporate partnering matters for a wide variety of private and public company clients in the ecommerce, internet infrastructure, internet services, enterprise networking, telecommunications, mobile computing, software and hardware peripherals industries. CHRISTOPHER WRIGHT

Christopher O.B. Wright is a partner in the Antitrust and Trade Regulation practice group and a member of the firm's Litigation Department. He joined the firm in 1995 and is resident in the Palo Alto office.
Mr. Wright provides a full range of antitrust and trade regulation counseling, including advice on intellectual property licensing, joint ventures and strategic alliances, pricing and distribution issues. Mr. Wright is responsible for obtaining federal antitrust clearance under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act for mergers and acquisitions involving the firm’s clients. He appears regularly on behalf of clients before the Federal Trade Commission and United States Department of Justice.
Mr. Wright’s high technology clients include market leaders in the following industries: semiconductors, (including logic chips; graphics chips; communications chips) semiconductor equipment manufacturing; EDA software; Internet Application Software; Embedded OS and BIOS; disk storage; medical imaging; biotechnology and life sciences.
Mr. Wright was previously an associate at Wilson, Sonsini, Goodrich & Rosati in Palo Alto and Latham & Watkins in Los Angeles.
Mr. Wright received an A.B. in Public Policy from Stanford University in 1981 and a J.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law, in 1986 where he was the founding editor of High Technology Law Journal, a nationally circulated student publication he started while at Boalt. He has written extensively on antitrust issues affecting high tech companies in the areas of Mergers and Acquisitions, Strategic IP, standard setting and competitor collaborations.
