TODD A. BAUMAN
Stoel Rives LLP
Todd Bauman practices in Stoel Rives’ Business Department with emphasis primarily in corporate securities and general corporate law. He has broad experience representing emerging growth and technology companies in private and public financings, SEC reporting and compliance, and acquisitions and divestitures. Todd is the Vice Chair of the Emerging Business Committee of the Oregon Chapter of the American Electronics Association and is the Chair of Stoel Rives’ emerging companies practice group. He was formerly on the Board of Directors of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Forum, Chair of the Legal Issues SIG of the Software Association of Oregon and the Treasurer of the Business Law section of the Oregon State Bar. He was associated with Brobeck, Phleger & Harrison, San Francisco, California from 1984-87. Todd received his J.D. from the University of Chicago in 1984 and his A.B., with distinction, from Stanford University, in 1978.
KEVIN CABLE
Managing Director, Cascadia Capital
Kevin Cable has more than fourteen years of experience as an executive in start-up companies ranging in focus from computer hardware, scientific visualization applications, and consumer packaged software products. Prior to co-founding Cascadia Capital, Mr. Cable worked as a principal in Jumpstart Group, a consulting firm he established to provide M&A services, technology licensing, and strategic development services to software companies. Before establishing Jumpstart Group, Mr. Cable was President & CEO of Numera Software, a Seattle based start-up, which he co-founded. Previously, he held various sales and marketing roles in Silicon Valley. Mr. Cable has deep connections with regional investors, entrepreneurs, venture capital firms, and professional contacts.
Mr. Cable received his BS in Cell and Molecular Biology from the University of Washington.
KIRBY A. DYESS
Vice President and Director of Operations, Intel Capital
Kirby Dyess is Vice President and Director of Operations for Intel Capital, Intel's strategic investment program. In addition to managing the organization's operations, her group manages the successful integration of Intel's mergers and acquisitions.
Since joining Intel in 1979, Dyess has held a variety of management positions. In 1996, she was named Vice President and Director of New Business Development in Intel's Corporate Business Development Group. Dyess became a Corporate Vice President and Director of Worldwide Human Resources in 1993.
Previously, Dyess worked in Intel's Personal Computer Enhancement Division. From 1989 to 1993, she was the Business Unit Manager, where she was responsible for the division's memory and central processing unit enhancement business. In this role, she also managed the establishment of the division's mobile enhancement operation. From 1987 to 1989, Dyess was the division's Marketing Manager, where she was involved in launching the company's local area network and fax modem businesses. Other positions she has held during her career at Intel include Human Resource Staffing Manager and managing Intel's first worldwide Information Centers.
Prior to joining Intel, Dyess spent more than ten years at ICN Medical Laboratories Inc. in Portland, Ore., where she started and operated the Diagnostic Products Division, based on her research in endocrinology. She later held other corporate positions in product development, manufacturing, marketing and sales.
Dyess was selected to join the Academy of Women Achievers in 1996. She is a member of the Menasha Corporation Board of Directors; serves on the Business Advisory Board for the University of Oregon Lundquist College of Business; and is a member of the National Advisory Council for Environmental Policy and Technology for the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
Dyess frequently speaks at industry conferences on topics including management issues, mergers and acquisitions, and the benefits of using technology to gain personal and business flexibility.
Dyess received a bachelor's degree in physics in 1968 from the University of Idaho and has completed post-graduate courses in biochemistry and business. She enjoys learning, gardening and the challenges of business.
GREG ENDICOTT
Associate Managing Director, Kroll, Inc.
Greg Endicott performs valuations and transaction advisory services for mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, financial statement reporting, buy-sell agreements, licensing agreements, corporate reorganizations, strategic planning, recapitalizations, estate and gift tax purposes, corporate tax planning and purchase price allocation. His industry experience extends to aerospace, apparel, biotechnology, business services, communications, consumer products, finance, food products, forest products, healthcare, industrial, manufacturing, medical services, professional services, real estate, technology, transportation and utilities. He also has significant experience with emerging companies.
Greg has concentrated on valuations since 1995. Prior to joining the Seattle office of Kroll, he was a manager in the financial advisory solutions group at a Big Five accounting firm. He began his career in various financial and accounting related positions including auditor, controller and financial analyst.
Greg received his BS form Lewis & Clark College and his MBA with an emphasis on Finance from San Diego State University. He is a licensed Certified Public Accountant in Oregon, accredited in business valuation, as well as an Accredited Senior Appraiser (ASA).
LES FAHEY
Founder, Fahey Ventures
Les is a business advisor to emerging growth technology companies. His advisory services include assisting with business formation, business plan review, financing assistance, and development of management teams and boards. Prior to starting Fahey Ventures, Les was a tax partner for KPMG LLP for 32 years. He founded KPMG's Oregon Technology practice in 1980 and grew it to a clear leadership position in the Oregon market. Les has assisted numerous companies in their business development, several of which have gone public.
JOHN GABBERT
Director of Research, VentureOne
John leads VentureOne's research and analysis efforts, and is responsible for the body of venture capital knowledge that is the foundation of VentureOne's products and services. He has held various positions within VentureOne, including Director of Operations and Research Operations Manager. In these capacities, he managed operational aspects related to the domestic and international growth of VentureOne and was responsible for ensuring the integrity of VentureOne's database as well as managing the research processes. Prior to joining VentureOne, he held positions at AT&T and John Hancock
SCOTT GIBSON
Chairman, Gibson Enterprises
Mr. Gibson, a pioneer in Oregon's high-tech industry, started his high-tech career at Intel, where he rose to general manager of its Memory Components Division. In 1983 he co-founded Sequent Computer Systems, where he served as president from 1988 to 1992, building a start-up venture into a $250 million business. Mr. Gibson currently serves as an investor in, strategic consultant to, and Director of many high-technology companies and non-profits. He sits on the boards of TriQuint Semiconductor, Radisys, Integrated Measurement Systems, Webridge, eTrieve, CenQuest, and Livebridge.
GERRY LANGELER
Partner, OVP Venture Partners
For more than 26 years, Gerry has started and grown technology-based companies. He was co-founder of Mentor Graphics Corporation where he served as President, and helped lead Mentor through its IPO to over $400M in worldwide sales and over $1B in market capitalization. Gerry has also served as a board member for companies ranging from enterprise software to wireless communications, retailing to medical devices. He is the author of The Vision Trap (Harvard Business Review, 3/92).

HUGH MACKWORTH
Managing Partner, SmartForest Ventures
Hugh Mackworth, Managing Partner of SmartForest Ventures, has 20 years of successful high-tech executive and management experience. He is a prominent member of Oregon's entrepreneurial community as a former board member of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Forum and the founder of the Portland Angel Network, a network of private investors. Hugh is currently on the board of TechTracker, Upright Systems, MyHealthBank and Cenquest. In addition, Hugh is chair of the Board of Natural Messaging, Inc., Treasurer of the Board of Trustees of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and chair of the Entrepreneur Foundation of Oregon.
Hugh formerly served as CEO of Digimarc Corporation (NASDAQ:DMRC), where he led a turnaround at the digital-watermarking venture, since named Oregon's fastest growing company. Before relocating from the Silicon Valley, Hugh worked with GammaLink, a computer-based fax startup, was a marketing executive at 3Com Corporation, and worked in engineering, marketing and finance for Apple Computer before it went public. His academic background includes a BA in computer studies and an MBA, both from Stanford University.
Jonathan P. (JP) MICHAEL
Senior Vice President, Comerica Bank
Mr. Michael has over twelve years experience in the finance industry; focusing in debt and equity financing, financial planning, cash management, underwriting, tax planning, budgeting, risk management and banking.
Mr. Michael joined Imperial Bank in June 1998. In January 2001 Imperial was acquired by Comerica, which he is currently Senior Vice President and Manager of the Kirkland, Washington and Portland, Oregon’s Technology and Life Sciences Division. He manages sales and support staff of 13, relationship management for over 200 customers, evaluating and obtaining new customers, credit underwriting, negotiating and closing of new loans, implementing new cash management accounts for customers and relationship management with Venture Capital Investors.
Prior to joining Imperial, Mr. Michael worked two years at Trillium Corporation, a diversified holding company with business interests in timber, real estate and investments, where he was the Treasurer. He was five years at Services Group of America, as a Senior Financial Analyst and Corporate Cash Manager. Mr. Michael began his career as a Staff Auditor for Deloitte & Touche.
Mr. Michael holds a B.S. in Accounting from the University of Puget Sound, Tacoma, Washington.

RICK NAGLE
President, Pillar Management
Rick Nagle has more than thirty years experience as a successful entrepreneur, company creator, active lead investor and venture capitalist.
Rick is currently Founder and President of Pillar Management, an Oregon based group of seasoned professional investors and entrepreneurs who have made active investments in over fifty companies primarily based in the Northwest. Pillar Management has been responsible for raising over $50 million and assists its portfolio companies through strategic planning, developing management teams, serving on boards and advisory boards, strategic alliances and capital expansion.
Rick is a co-founder and former Director of Metro One Telecommunications, an Oregon based NASDAQ company, where he was instrumental in helping the company grow from a start-up to a nationwide company with revenues approaching $300 million. For the last three years Metro has been named one of the outstanding and fastest growing companies by both Forbes and Fortune Magazine. Rick has also founded two additional successful Northwest companies.
Rick has extensive national, retail and wholesale management experience with companies including Revlon and Johnson and Johnson.
Rick is on the Stadium Finance Committee for Oregon, the Board of the Oregon Sports Authority and is actively pursuing the goal of bringing a Major League Baseball and National Football League to the Metropolitan area. Rick serves on the Executive Board of the Oregon Entrepreneurs Forum and is Chairman for Angel Oregon 2003 and was the 2002 Vice Chairman. He is active on the boards and advisory boards of several of his portfolio companies. He is a member of the Portland Venture Group, and serves on a financial committee for the Oregon Food Bank and is a member of the Arlington Club.
CARL NICHOLS
Managing Partner, Outlook Ventures
Carl Nichols co-founded Outlook in 1995 and has more than 19 years of experience in the software, computer, telecommunications and consumer products industries. Nichols has held senior executive positions in the strategic planning, business development, operations management, market development and finance departments of several major companies.
Prior to Outlook, Nichols headed strategic and financial planning at SBC/Pacific Bell, an $8 billion telecommunications and Internet service provider, where he was responsible for identifying new growth opportunities and business lines, developing strategic partnerships and optimizing the company's investments. Before joining SBC/Pacific Bell, Nichols was Vice President of Strategic Business Management at Scrivner, Inc., a $6 billion packaged goods distributor. He led the company's business development efforts, including market expansions, new concept developments, domestic and international alliances and operating improvements.
Prior to Scrivner, Nichols spent six years as a management consultant at Booz, Allen & Hamilton, where he provided marketing, technology and operating guidance for his Fortune 500 clients, which included computer manufacturers, broadband service providers, retailers and financial institutions. Prior to Booz, Allen & Hamilton, Nichols served at AT&T's Information Systems
International business where he developed marketing plans for the company's entry into Europe and led systems development at Spectrum Development. Nichols has represented Outlook on the Board of portfolio companies such as Epicentric, MarketHome (acquired by ClickAction N: CLAC), Arthas (acquired by Yahoo N: YHOO), Logilent, and Kinecta (acquired by Stellent N: STEL).
Nichols received a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science magna cum laude from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard's Graduate School of Business. He enjoys skiing, scuba diving and sailing.
JOHN ORCUTT
Former CEO, Actional Software
John recently joined Big Chief Partners. For ten years, Big Chief has provided strategic consulting, business evaluations and software development to software ventures, their partners, and investors. Previously, John was Chief Executive Officer of Actional Corporation, a leader in the emerging Web services management market. Actional counts over 100 of the Global 2000 among its customers. John led Actional through two financings in mid-2000 and December 2001, raising a total of $44M. Previously, he was President and Chief Executive Officer of Augeo Software, a European-based enterprise application venture that pioneered the Professional Services Automation category. Earlier, he was President and CEO of ConsenSys Software Corporation, which was acquired by Augeo.
In the past, John was Sr. Vice President at the 3DO Company and Vice President and General Manager of Distributed Systems at Unisys/Convergent Technologies. He started his career in technology at Hewlett-Packard, where he ran product marketing for PC software. His experience outside of the technology sector includes seven years of consumer products brand management.
John received his MBA and an undergraduate degree in Economics, with honors, from Stanford University.
CHARLES SCHOENHOEFT
CEO, UFO Communications
Charles Schoenhoeft founded UFO Communications in January 2000 to create an industry leading provider of next-generation, OC-192 Metro Optical Networks. Charles previously founded Transphere International in 1984 and grew the company to $25 million in sales providing product marketing, marketing communications and brand development services for fast growth, international high technology and consumer products companies. In 1994, he formed Transphere Interactive, providing strategic Web software development, web design, interactive software tools and consulting to international corporations including British Telecom, Nomura Securities, Cybercash and The Yankee Group. In 1996, the Transphere companies were sold to MTC Communications, forming a $100 million integrated communications company, providing telecommunications, Internet infrastructure and software services to medium to large-sized businesses.
ROBERT THELEEN
Group Chairman, General Partner and Founder, ChinaVest
Mr. Theleen co-founded ChinaVest in 1983. He began his career in 1973 with the First National Bank in Dallas. After serving as General Manager of the Singapore Branch, he organized in 1977 the bank's Hong Kong merchant banking subsidiary, First Dallas Asia Limited. In 1980, Mr. Theleen established the Dallas Pacific Group (predecessor to ChinaVest) to provide corporate finance advisory and investment services in East Asia to clients from the US and Europe, with a focus on China. Under his direction, ChinaVest's first private equity fund was launched in 1983.
Mr. Theleen was educated at Duquesne University and John Hopkins University and later received an MBA from the American School of International Management.
Mr. Theleen serves on several corporate boards, including Zindart, NewTone Communications, Virgin Asia Management. Mr. Theleen is also active in the wider community: he sits on the Board of Trustees of the Asia Society; is a contributing member of the Task Force on America's Role in Asia, a Brookings Institute sponsored group to investigate and propose US policy in Asia for the Bush Administration; and is active with the Young Presidents Organization and the Hopkins-Nanjing Center.
MARK WHITE
Partner, White & Lee LLP
Mr. White represents emerging growth companies and investment funds on all matters relating to the formation, financing, growth and liquidity of technology based enterprises. He represents and advises companies on a wide variety of transactional matters, including business and legal issues as they pertain to complex strategic and venture financings, acquisitions, and licensing and distribution arrangements. Mr. White’s practice principally covers corporate, technology, financing and corporate partnering matters for a wide variety of private and public company clients in the ecommerce, internet infrastructure, internet services, enterprise networking, telecommunications, mobile computing, software and hardware peripherals industries. He regularly advises companies on strategic positioning, business model and revenue generation issues, the preparation of investment materials and presentations, and the structure of complex corporate reorganizations, consolidations and commercial partnerships. Mr. White also represents investment funds on formation issues, and regularly represents investors in making portfolio investments.
Mr. White has represented recognized companies such as HotMail, Nuvomedia, Native Minds, 3ware, SurfMonkey.com, garageband.com, Betasphere, the EDA Consortium and AirFlash - and venture capital funds such as New Enterprise Associates, Nexit Ventures and Selby Ventures. Mr. White has written several papers on matters effecting emerging growth companies and has spoken on these topics in seminars organized by the Software Development Forum, the Northern California Association of Harvard Business School, the International Angels Institute, the Asian Business Association, the EDA Consortium and other groups. Mr. White has also spoken on these topics in Singapore, the Peoples Republic of China and Malaysia. He is the organizer of the "Soup to Nuts" seminar series which in 2000 was sponsored by Silicon Valley Bank, New Enterprise Associates, NASDAQ, Microsoft and Oracle. Prior to co-founding White & Lee in 1996, Mr. White formed two other law firms: White & Altman, and the firm of Carr, DeFilippo, White & Ferrell. Mr. White started his legal career as an attorney in the Silicon Valley offices of Cooley Godward and also Fenwick & West.
Prior to his legal career, Mr. White worked as the Managing Director of the International Trade division of the Harper Group, a Fortune 500 company and was the founder of Campamericanaan international travel operator based in Brussels, Belgium. For fun, Mr. White is an avid golfer, runner and oarsmen. . Mr. White received his law degree at the University of California at Berkeley - Boalt Hall School of Law in 1987, his M.B.A. at Harvard University, Graduate School of Business in 1979 and his Bachelor of Arts at Rutgers College, Rutgers University, in 1977, Phi Beta Kappa.
